By Car

Chisholme is off the main A7 which links Carlisle to Edinburgh, close to the town of Hawick (OS map ref: Sheet 79, 418121).Until the end of June/July 2013 there are repairs to the bridge just outside Hawick, which block the usual access to Chisholme via the village of Roberton, on the B711. Until further notice, this is what you need to do:
Continue along the A7 going South, past the turn-off to Roberton, and take the VERY NEXT TURNING ON YOUR RIGHT,  singposted 'CHAPELHILL'. This is a small turn-off to a single-track road, less than a mile further along the A7. You are now on the 'scenic' route to Chisholme and it has no turn-offs, so you can't get lost!
It is a beautiful little road and shorter than the usual way (less than 15 minutes drive) - the only drawback are two gates, which you will have to open, and then close again behind you. The road will take you past two farms, and after several twists and turns (drive slowly, there are often baby lambs on the road) you will get to the first gate, right by a lake. The second gate is half a mile further - also near a small lake. You are now very close to Chisholme. After the second gate the road rises slightly, then turns down into the Roberton valley. You will see a a stand of pinetrees on your right; the entrance to Chisholme is right there, going into the these woods. There is a blue sign by the entrance to the driveway.
