Welcome to the Beshara School
An education in self-knowledge, in whatever guise and wherever it takes place, is at the core of a sustainable human presence on this earth. Such an education takes us back to the very root of our search for understanding. It's what urges us to ask the most profound questions such as, "Who am I?" and "...what am I doing here?" Since its establishment in 1973, the school has been providing a dynamic and evolving programme of study, meditation and work, designed to nurture, refine and directly address these kinds of questions. It is open to anyone, regardless of faith, nationality, background, age, culture or physical ability. The school is located in a number of independent centres worldwide.

about the school the education courses visiting In 1973, the Beshara School established a residential study and retreat centre in the Scottish Borders, which is now the permanent home of the school. Chisholme attracts people from all over the world who come to visit, to join in a course, to spend time in quiet retreat or to work as volunteers – see An open invitation. Courses are held at Chisholme throughout the year, from introductory weekends to the six-month intensive course, which runs from October to March. Six-month course: The Foundations of Conscious Living Starts October 1st, 2010. The course is about our identity as human beings, our meaning and purpose, and about taking up our real place in the order of things, and in the world, consciously and willingly. Go to interviews		Symposium 2010 Facing the Unknown The self knowledge and global responsibility Symposium will be held at Chisholme House from 9th-11th September, 2010. Residential courses at Chisholme Weekend November 19-21 Nine-days November 19-28 Get a taste of the key elements of the educational process at the Beshara School during a weekend or nine day course. Both courses address the question of self knowledge: who, what and why are we? Explore these questions from a unified perspective; study key texts to provide a background and metaphysical structure from which to try to see the limits of your own knowledge, challenge your assumptions and look for ways of expanding your vision. Find out more... Jakarta, Indonesia Public talks at Paramedina University, Jakarta, on October 13th. Melbourne, Australia, October 2nd: Self-knowledge and global responsibility – the Birth of Hope – an afternoon in conversation with Andrew Harvey on the Global situation. This will be followed by a weekend foundation course 9-10 October. Event poster Tanzania: Dar-es-Salaam and Arusha An introductory day and and two weekend courses are to be held in Tanzania in late November and early December 2010.
