From an address by Peter Young, the principal of the Beshara School, to prospective students:
I would like to tell you about the Beshara School's Six-month Course. This course is at the heart of the School's education, and it begins on the 1st October each year.
It is well named a Six-month Course of Intensive Esoteric Education. It is intensive – it's full time, fully residential and concentrated. And it is an education that is to do with our interior, or esoteric, reality. It's about our identity as human beings, our meaning and purpose, and about taking up our real place in the order of things, and in the world, consciously and willingly.
If you have a question about who you really are, this is an opportunity to engage with this question totally. It could be the most important and transformational six months that you could possibly spend.
You will be given a complete foundation for this journey through an in-depth study of some of the world's finest spiritual literature, which offers a perspective, and guidance to this perspective, that is grounded in the absolute unity of all existence.
You will be studying certain writings of Muhyiddin Ibn 'Arabi and of Jelaluddin Rumi. You will study the Tao Te Ching and the Baghavad Gita, all of these and others selected because they shed direct light on our essential relationships to Reality, to nature, to each other and to ourselves.
You will be living, working and studying with others on this journey. You will be supported by an order, specially arranged for this course, to bring you directly to an awareness of your real identity, even perhaps a glimpse of your destiny and the reason for being here on this earth.
This order includes four aspects – study, work, meditation and devotional practice – each interwoven with the others to form a strong and supportive framework.
And in service to reality, and through knowledge and love, we reach towards the perfection of humankind – not so that we become perfect, but to realise the perfection that we already are.
This course is an education for Life, an opening into the mystery of being alive. It is impossible to over-value what is here to be found.
