The Holy Spirit in the Counselling of the Soul

September 15th – 22nd, 2018
Melbourne, Australia

A week dedicated to studying largely unpublished material by Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi. This includes an outline of a cosmological framework for understanding the place of the human being in the universe, and consequently, our correct attitude towards other living beings.

Course Description

A week-long course facilitated by Jane Clark and based on Ibn ʿArabī’s ‘The Holy Spirit in the Counselling of the Soul’ (Rūḥ al-quds fī manāṣaḥat al-nafs). Jane will cover extracts from four of the five sections of this long work, using much material which is as yet unpublished. This includes an outline of a cosmological framework for understanding the place of the human being in the universe, and consequently, our correct attitude towards other living beings.

The course will take the form of interactive discussion of the text – no previous study experience of Ibn ʿArabī’s work is required. It will be held at ‘Armagh’, headquarters of the Initiatives of Change Organisation in Toorak and is non-residential.
