Event Description
African Apocalypse is a new film exploring the history and legacy of European colonialism in Africa. Launched to critical acclaim at the London Film Festival in September 2020, it makes a major contribution to current debates about our colonial history and the growing awareness that we must confront the injustices of the past – and find a way to remedy them – if we are to move forward together as a human race.
The film is directed by award-winning documentary film-maker Rob Lemkin, and follows a journey made by Femi Nylander, a British-Nigerian poet and activist, through Niger, one the poorest countries in the world. Their aim was to learn about the effects of colonisation not from official accounts but from the people in the towns and villages of this ancient, arid land.
Those registered for the event (via Eventbrite) will receive a link to stream the film at a convenient time between 19.30 BST, 24th April and 07.30 BST, 26th April. Registrees will also receive an invitation to the Zoom discussion session.
