The Beshara Lecture 2018

‘Something from Nothing’

An examination of the foundations of present day atheism
from the perspective of unity of being.

Speaker: Avi Abadi

Lecture Details

An examination of the foundations of present day atheism from the perspective of unity of being.

According to this perspective, any explanation of the question why is there something rather than nothing? that fails to embrace the essential mystery it implies inevitably results in a belief system that is blind to its own suppositions.

This lecture will examine the assumptions that underpin the answer New Atheism offers for this question, and outline the approach the perspective of unity of being offers – an approach which embraces that mystery by placing it at the centre of the search for meaning and by recognising that the intellect is incapable of penetrating it.

The lecture will be illustrated with film clips. A link to these clips and other relevant information from the lecture is available here.
