Course Description

This is a course exploring the oneness of being in the teachings of Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi, one of the greatest mystics of his time. Known to many as al-Shaykh al-Akbar, the Greatest Teacher.

This course allows the student, in a safe closed online group, to study, explore and work with this body of knowledge with the aim of helping them to come to an expanded understanding.

Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi (born in Andalusia 1165, died in Damascus 1240) is one of the most influential figures in the Islamic world. The universality of his thought, which is making him increasingly well known in the West, is as powerfully relevant in today’s world as it has ever been.

Know Yourself is a short text on the unity of existence which explains that to realize your essential oneness with reality it is not necessary to eliminate your ‘separate’ self or ego because that illusory self never existed. Rather, it is necessary to know your true self to realise your oneness with all being. Nothing essentially changes. When you know yourself ‘ignorance simply disappears’ and how things really are becomes clear. “When the secret of an atom is discovered, the secret of all created things is made clear.”

The Twenty Nine Pages was compiled by Bulent Rauf consultant to the Beshara Trust until his death in 1987. The book consists of edited highlights from A.E. Affifi’s, The Mystical Philosophy of Muhyid Din Ibnul Arabi. The intention of the Twenty-Nine Pages is to offer a complete introductory guide to the language and thought of Ibn ‘Arabi, particularly those aspects that refer the the Unity of Existence and the Perfectibility of Man.

Both books are available from Beshara Publications [/] and can also be ordered in the USA from the Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi Society [/].

These sessions will run weekly for 15 weeks until January 8th, 2023. There will be breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.
