Course Description
Ibn ‘Arabi’s great metaphysical vision, based upon the principle of ‘the oneness of being’, does not only present a comprehensive theoretical understanding of reality, it also has significant practical implications for the way we live our lives. This study course will explore some of these using texts from a number of his writings, considering issues such as forgiveness, response to suffering, belief, gratitude, and dreams and imagination.

No previous knowledge of Ibn ‘Arabi is required, and all texts will be provided.
Jane Clark is a long-term student of the Beshara School and has been involved in the study of the Islamic mystical tradition, particularly Ibn ‘Arabi and his school, for more than 40 years. She was for many years a Senior Research Fellow of the Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi Society, and has lectured and conducted courses both in the UK (Oxford University Department of Continuous Education, The Temenos Academy, The Beshara Trust), and internationally in Spain, Egypt, Syria and USA. Jane is the editor of Beshara Magazine, which is concerned with the contemporary expression of a unitive perspective. She is currently working on new translations and studies of Ibn ‘Arabi’s works.
