The Writings of Bulent Rauf
Saturday, 8th October 2022
14:00–17:00 BST
The October Gallery, London UK
An afternoon devoted to contemplative reading of some of the writings and talks of Bulent Rauf.
Description
Born in Istanbul and educated in both Western and Eastern modes, Bulent came to Britain in the 1960’s to promote esoteric education grounded in the principle of the Unity of Being, free from any limiting dogma or sectarian creed. The Beshara Trust was founded in 1971 through his efforts and he was Consultant to the Trust until his death in 1987. In this role Bulent was a helper and a friend to many, but he always rejected the title of “teacher”, saying that the only teacher is God. He wrote a number of talks and papers, many of these for the students on Beshara courses at Chisholme House and elsewhere, and also for Symposia of the Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi Society. Many of these writings are collected in two books, Addresses and Addresses 2. We shall be reading and contemplating a few of these talks.
